Is the research day open to visiting students in neuroscience from other universities?

Yes. The research day is absolutely open and visiting neuroscience students are encouraged to participate. Registration is required for all.

Can I submit an abstract for the art competition AND to present?

Absolutely. Attendees with artistic talent are encouraged to submit an abstract for the art competition regardless of whether they have another abstract.

I am affiliated with an institution outside of Western, can I present my work at NRD?

Trainees who are not in a neuroscience program but are conducting neuroscience-related work (e.g., Psychology, Physiology, Philosophy, Computer Science, Biomedical Physics or Engineering, etc.) are very welcome to attend and present their work. Additionally, everyone is welcome to submit neuroscience-themed art to NRD’s art exhibit. Furthermore, SONGS will be providing cash awards to the top presenters in the scientific and art presentation categories!

I am an Undergraduate student, can I present my work at NRD?

Unfortunately, this year we do not have Undergraduate presentations. However, you are welcome to register and attend the conference, and you also have the opportunity to present neuroscience art!

Should I expect a confirmation email after registration and/or an abstract submission?

You will receive an email confirmation that your abstract was submitted.

Can I present methods or preliminary data at the conference?

Yes! We welcome new grad students and trainees to present even without any data!

Can I present “Brain Art” without being serious about competing?

Definitely! We want this event to be fun and diverse in terms of what you perceive “art” to be.
