“Elysium”

Abstract

My artwork for the SONGS collaboration is a two part series of acrylic paintings on canvas inspired by the histology images that are shown in my scientist collaborator’s research paper. Each canvas will display an enlarged cell with the different parts highlighted in the same colors that they were tagged with. Each canvas will show a cell that differs from the other because of the parts that are tagged. Similar parts of the cells will be kept as they are in the same colors. The canvases are meant to be displayed side by side in order to further highlight the similarities and differences between the two cells. The series aims to highlight the beauty of the the cells, as well as the accomplishment of the researchers.
